Chicken Puloa
It is a traditional Indian dish which is made at our home once or twice a week.

1 lb chicken breast, cut in 1/2 inch pieces 2 cups Basmati Rice washed and soaked in water 1 cup finely diced onions 1 tomato 2 small red potatoes 1 inch stick of cinnamon 2 cloves of cardamom 4 black pepper corns 1/2 tsp cumin 1 serrano pepper sliced from the center 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper 1 tsp coriander powder 1/2 tsp turmeric powder 1/2 tsp garam masala powder 1 tsp ginger/garlic paste 2 1/2 tsp salt 4 1/2 cups water 2 1/2 tbsp oil
Put 4 1/2 cups of water in the rice cooker and turn the rice cooker on. Take oil in a pan and then to it add cinnamon sticks, cardamom, black pepper corns and cumin once these begin to splutter add the onions and saute the onions till they turn golden brown. Then add the ginger garlic paste, tomatoes and saute for about 2 mins. Then add the salt cayenne,coriander,turmeric and garam masala powder and then add the chicken and cook for 5-10 mins on a low flame. Drain the soaked rice and then add the rice to the mixture in the pan and cook for a min and then add the whole thing to the water in the rice cooker. Cover and let the rice cooker cook till it turns off. Serve with a salad.
