Tomato Sauce

You'll never buy that stuff in the jars again!

Ingredients

1 lb ripe tomatoes, cut into chunks

1 onion, cut into chunks

4 garlic cloves, peeled

2 tblsp fresh oregano

4 tblsp fresh basil

salt and pepper

2 tblsp olive oil

Heat the olive oil in your rice cooker using Sauté-Then-Simmer™. Sauté garlic and onion until soft.

Add remaining ingredients and stir. Close the lid and let simmer for 1-2 hrs.

I didn't make this particular recipe but I used our recipe to make sauce in the morning with my oldest son and let it come to a boil with steam then kept it on keep warm for the rest of the day until we needed it for dinner. It was great way to get something done early and free up stove space. It also hold the sauce right at a nice temp (180F or 190F) so it didn't both off too much water and didn't burn.
